Very interesting read...hopefully dance music is only resting like that guy said and it's not dying.

this doesn't mean the end of mainstream cheese.... it means the dance scene is dying... not something to celebrate imo....

or well, that's in the UK, because the dance scene here in Holland sure is flourishing if you ask me (TOO much even )

From the TA's perspective, the article is saying that the teenage candy ravers that are in the dance scene just for the drugs, dress ridiculously, believe they can "rave really, well, etc etc (not in for the music) are leaving dance for something else. This might put an end to the producers that are catering to their bad tastes.

it's just a hype... here in holland the hype is at it's peak i think... esp if Tiesto is on a lineup... it's so sad how many people come to the big parties ex. sensation, dance valley because of the name of the party or because tiesto is playing or something like that makes it really annoying for people who actually come because they love the music or REALLY love the dj

Isn't it strange that ALL the popular events have cool names? Coincidence? No.

hahaha but its also the reputation of the events and also the events that have been around the longest are the most popular... Dance Valley just had it's 9th year, Mysteryland it's 10th... etc....
The Dance scene is just a way of life here in holland. it's not underground or anything, it's just as big, if not bigger than other genres....

Electronic and dance music will never die for me, here yes in the UK it is gettin smaller but thats cause of the big clubs and big DJ's milking the fans for all they can get, it will go underground and the promotors will realise that it is the fans who are most important. I remember Gatecrasher were charging £50 over here in Northern Ireland for a big party in our local arena-too much

I think britains dance scene followed the typical boom bust cycle.. look at the dot com bust.. it follows the same pattern.. scary really =(

that said.. i don't think dance is "dead" in any sense of the word. Maybe it took a few hard blows in the past couple of years.. but lets be honest, what hasn't? The economy has been shit since the turn of the millenium in the united states atleast. Everything else seems to be mirroring that trend (be it the music industry or the fast food industry)....

i was just thinking about that today... and all the "intros"... rather annoying.


according to that article, electronica is going back to underground... if we're gonna believe that, then i guess that's as much public exposure as it got... although IMHO it's only on the rise - getting more playing time in movies, etc. (anyone knows the track from freddy vs. jason, btw? )
