well.......i went off to the bank by my work after leaving work early to do sum shopping and draw sum ££ out for the weekend. i aint bin using my account for about 5 months since i ran out of my savings i was using to tide me ova till i cud go bk to work.....sumhow i hav bin in debit to them for 4.67 (im not meant to b able to get any credit so they fukt up there) i paid a cheque in tuesday mornin for £300 using my card and all was well....work paid me £80 today and sed it went in my account fine..i went to halifax to get sum ££ out n it retained my card, i asked them why and they didnt know and sed i wud have to go to the HSBC. i then had to walk to the other side of town to get to hsbc, where i q'd for half hr, was then told reception wud deal with it, wen i finally got to speak to sumone there they told me i needed to get my bank details. as my card had been retained i had to walk all the way bk to work to get them, then all the way back to the bank. wen i got there they told me my account had become innactive and they had closed it, how cud this b i asked? they had sent me no letters only bank statements up until last week...he cudnt answer, i asked why it took my card on tuesday to pay money in, if it had been closed in december as he sed, he didnt know. he told me they had sent me a letter in december telling me this, which they hav not as i had a bank statement right thru till now, money had been in my account up until march. they hav sent u a letter to tell me this he told me, i asked wen, he sed 4th of july...oh today u mean?! nice one mate cheers. so wheres my money? we r sending you cheques in the post......wot the fuk am i meant to do with cheques wen i have no bank account??? u tell me?! i have to pay for my hair to be done tomorrow, i was meant to be goin to norf on sunday, i had also left work early to do sum shopping as there where things i needed..i was strnded in town with fuk all money and no way of getting home he told me there was nothing they cud do about it, and was there sumbod i cud ring. luckily i had bought a return tkt that morning so i cud get the bus back. i was meant to go to physio this afternoon but had no money to pay for the bus to get there, and had missed my appoinment anyway with all the faffing about they made me do. the amount of walking i had to do as u can imagine (well im tellin u it was alot) has fuking killed me i have osteoporosis and will do for 2 years cos of my accident and its gonna take 2 years of physio for my to achieve sum kind of normality so im in agony thanks to them and there fuk ups. they did not send me any letters saying my account was closed. i am very mad right now. me n my mum r goin in tomorrow morning to complain and see wot the fuk they r gonna do about it. sorrry about my swearing but im so so mad u wud not beleieve. im being forced to make my mum pay for my hair cut tommorow and she is goin to lend me sum money that i need for trains etc. its not fair on her especially as shes just paid to have her new bathroom done.

What a bunch of useless twats. Switch banks when its sorted.

I had alot of trouble with banks aswell - Natwest.

basically I wanted to get a switch card instead of a solo when i turned 18. Simply for the fact you can use it in more shops. I went in there to upgrade. I was told everything is fine and signed up for a new account. Over a month later i still had not recieved a new card. And started recieving Bank charges of £7 for an "Advantage Gold Account" of which i did not ask for. SO i go back to teh bank and ask what the hell is going on, getting charges for an account i cannot even use, and dont even have a card for. They said that they didnt know what had gone on and it appeared that i had applied for an advatage gold account. So i said no, i just want a friggin swicth card, i dotn care about an overdraft or cheque books or anything just a current account with a switch. Once again they said ok, thats fine we shall adjust your account and you should recieve youre card in the post shortly. A week later i recieve yet ANOTHER bank charge for £7. By this time im gettin a little pissed of and returned to teh bank with attitude. They told me that the they couldnt understand why i am still recieving bank charges, and that they wouldnt actually charge me and that i should still recieve my card very soon. Yes, they was right .. a few days later, i did recieve a card. A FUCKING SOLO CARD. I mean wtf. just wtf. This time i went back PISSED. At the time i was filling out forms, for example my PRS membership form (music society) and had to tip ex out the the accout details bit. and teh weeks of fuckin about delayed the submission of the form. I went back and asked what the deal was. They then said that they couldnt offer me a switch because i dotn have a credit rating or sumthing.... and that they would be taking a risk giving me a cheque book. Thats fair enough i said. But why the HELL couldnt you have told me this a month ago, and if this is the case why the hell did you sign me up for an advantage gold account in the first place.

Now ive closed all accounts with natwest and will never use them for my finances. That day i closed my account i went over to halifax where i was sent a switch card in 3 days of going in, and recieved a cheque book and a £1,000 overdraft.

omg they r so retarded!!!! my mum sed i shud open an aco**** with them but i think ill have to reconsider now..dont wanna b fukt about - we went into the bank this morning adnt they didnt even apologise until i sed to him that nobodies even bothered to apologise!!! massive ****s. he offered to re-open my account a fari few times but i told him that wud not b necessary

i do belive cheques can be cashed at post offices, you'll need some id (passport, driveres license etc)

as to what bank ive had 10 happy years with natwest (and they where nice about overdrafts etc to) as your going to uni be sure to shop around and see what offers best freebies when joining hsbc do a 4 year young persons rail card which is rather nice natwest give away cd walkmans, and what offers the most flexiable intrest free overdraft to

I've been with HSBC for 8 years now and had no problems with them as such, I only use my card to withdraw cash anyway, I refuse to get myself into credit card problems or anything, and i'll pay for anything in cash or if it needs a card my nana pays & I give her the cash,but sorry to hear that sam, it is a bit shit hun

You were lucky, I opened a student account (with HSBC, naturally) and had to wait 6 weeks and travel half the length of the country to get my new card!! And I'm still waiting for a cheque book....

Well kids, there's a lesson to be learned here: TA should have it's own bank.
