producing equipment

what type of equipment would someone reccommend to a newb producer... a simple 303? or something a bit more? I have around 250 to spend at the moment, just looking for a groovebox pretty much.

You have more possibilities if you have a fast computer. There are being some VST instruments released these days that can be compared to hardware. It''s also worth looking at second hand hardware. I had a Mc-303 but the sequenser is very limited. Maybe it's worth getting the Yamaha RS 7000. I've heard some people about it.

Woah, thought you were talking about a tb-303 there for a second. I think the grooveboxes are pretty limited. It's like having an average synth, sampler, sequencer, drum machine in one. Its better to get each bit individually in my opinion.

I'd recommend starting on software before moving to hardware myself.

Reason 2.5 fits perfectly into your budget. Check out the demo on www.propellerheads.se and see if you like it. You might also wanna check out fruity loops
