Bended Records

I just receive some new records today through the mail..........and one of them is bended

when I play the A-side, the tone arm going up and down like rollercoaster when I start the track............of course it stop towards the end of the track (cuz of the bend )

Is that a really bad thing? Should I return the vinyl to the record company?

im not gonna help you because of your sig.

well i dont really care i was jking, but if you search this forum there are some stuff about Warped(Bended) records. i think you can return it also but you can fix it yourself also, its not rocket science , you can get 2 glass sheets and put it in between, put a book on top and leave it somewhere that is a little hot so it warms up.

yep, the search button is a magical key

but, there are a few options you have...
Or: you can just put the record on your platter and bend it back yourself.
Or: something experimental: You take some glass that will fit on your record. You take another glass and you put the record between the 2 glasses. you put it in the sun for an hour and you should have a good record. But, i dunno if that works without damage, i never did this myself, but i heared that it's a good trick...

If you add weight to your tonearm, then that will help. Also, don't play the record as fast--it should help also. If it is really warped, thensee about getting a return, or just re-order it.

Since you didn't search for a topic on here, I'll say my .02. The 2 glass experiment works. Just go to your hardware store, buy 2 12x12 sheets of glass, then come home blow dry it to death for about 5 minutes, til it gets pretty warm, then place it in between the two pieces of glass on a flat surface. Then on top of that, add weigt, I used 4 cinderblocks, i think thats how you spell it, anyways, it works, perfect, mint when its done. Hope that helped for your BENDED
record.

peace,

Steve

instead of putting glass over it and a book... would blow drying it and putting a thick book over it work?

i would like to kno what any heat would do to the grooves of the record. like, over time the heat, and friction of the needle wears away the grooves, so the sound slowly deteriorates...would doing this simulate a record being played a bunch of times?

but, when u get a warped record, ya gotta do what ya gotta do, cuz nobody wants to pay the extra postage to replace one record. (the postage would probably be more than the records worth)
