pitch riding...

ive gotten to the stage where i can pitch ride (beatmatching without touching the records) down to within half a point of perfect (this is on technics tts) but i cant seem to get it to the point where i can stop riding... as in i cant find the place the sweetspot only withing half a point of it.

does anyone know a place with footage of someone doing it so i can get an exaple of the final part of pitch riding? or any suggestions besides the obvious: practise?

there really isn't any other way than practice...

it's all about training your ear to hear how far off the record is and translating that into a pitch shift.

I move the pitchslider up and down until it's perfect. You need to make the gap smaller by locating the right speed. (ie. go up to +6, slow down to +2, go up to +4, slow down to +3) Make sure you do this really fast I hope this helped.......mostly you just have have to FEEL the beat!

In the end you'll find yourself beatmatching without paying any attention to what you're actually doing. This is very handy, because the very purpose of pitchriding is in fact to be able to keep the tunes smoothly in sync throughout the whole mixing process.

When you don't have to worry about the pitch all the time, you can consentrate on the actual mixing (EQing, mix placement and such).
