Digweed Sucks

So I use the search button for the term 'digweed'
What do I find? Miles upon miles of threads and posts talking about how digweed sucks balls. WTF is wrong with you people??? I found comments such as

'boring'
'utter crap'
'slow-boring-as-hell prog house'

If people took the time to sit down and listen to one of his essential mixes (I.E. @Homelands 2001) I'm sure you would begin to think differently. Give him a break. Prog house is 16.7 times more intelligent than uplifting trance of today, and it didn't take me 2 years to realize that either.

This is in no way bashing of trance. I love both trance and prog house, but some people need to stop and listen, and give some genres a chance before they bash the hell out of it.

I think its bullshit when people come around and say, so and so music is more intelligent than so and so music Give me a break.

I love digweed's stuff, i liked MMII better than Raving Stark Mad though. His label is really successful and he has really done a lot of stuff for the scene, i think hes got that Bedrock nights in the UK or something.

If you bothered to read my first post, you would come to an amazing conclusion that I wasn't comparing anything. I was simply pointing out the ignorance of many people on this board and trying to encourage them to expand the horisons.

Azz3D, you make me laugh.
Your post implies that Digweed is somehow "underground" or not as popular as some trance DJs.

Give me a fucking break. Digweed's GU comps -- mixed on a computer, I might add -- are some of the most popular CDs on amazon.com. People rave about Sasha and Digweed as if they were some icons, they worship them, follow their every move. You know how fucking much these DJs make? You know how fucking rich they are? You know how their names appear in every trendy magazine?

So please stop the bullshit about Digweed being underground due to his "progressive" style. He's ranked higher than many of the DJs you'll find discussed here.

OK... Now somebody contrasted Digweed to PvD. I personally fail to see how PvD can be classified as an "uplifting" DJ and thus be contrasted to Digweed and Sasha. PvD, though many TAs here love him, ultimately focuses on the simple beat patterns and bass, with no uplifting or soaring melodies. If somebody had said "the Tiesto of 2000" I would've agreed. But PvD? Not to denigrate his music - because tastes differ - but, as one TA remarked, his music is "claps and hi-hats." Not exactly something you'd contrast with Digweed.

to be fair you're responsible for the biggest flame war today/tomorrow as people argue for no reason other than you've made a lack of a point.... congrats, I'd give you a medal but i'm all out

Dude you need to learn to read. Nowhere I said he is less popular. I was practically worshipping him in my first post, and nowhere I was trying to bash him so please re-read my statement and edit your post. KTX

A few things......

1) Show me physical proof that his mixing was done on a computer. He may have sent his mix to a computer to fine-tune some things (which I don't agree with, btw), but to say it was mixed on a computer?????? Again, proof please.

2) Have you ever seen the guy live? I think it safe to say that his mixing doesn't need work.......at all. I am not some Pro-Digweed, he's-the-man fan or anything...I just know that from the time i have seen him live, he was fucking amazing. 2+ minute-mixes almost everytime, etc. Flawless, and his track selection is something to be in awe of. He's amazing

Anyone who says anything remotely close to "Digweed sucks" obviously knows not even 1/2 of what they THOUGHT they knew about electronic music and the art of being a DJ. End of story.

Thank you. You just restated the point I was trying to make. Open your minds people. Expand the horizons.

BTW, I deliberately chose the topic title 'digweed sucks' to quote some people who have said it in the past (use the search button to find out who).
