Transporting Vinil to Cd

Hey
Currently as i dj in brazil and its very hard to find good vinil for a price i can afford i use cd players anyways i LOVE vinil as well but since i dont have much cash i was thinking of just buying one good tt right now (or when i have the cash) instead of buying 2 shitty ass ones.

Anyways i was woundering if i could transfer the vinil sounds onto my computer so that i can burn em to a cd or something also would like to know weather or not this is ilegal in clubs since i have bought the record.

So if you could answer this it would be great thxs alot,

Keep it Peaceful

nah it should be fine to rip them from your vinyl and put them onto cd to play out!

but remember keep buying the vinyl and supporting the artists!

It's perfectly legal. When you Buy a vinyl, you buy copyrights from RIAA(or an organisation that does the same, RIAA is from America, in belgium for example, it's called SABAM) for 1 Person. That means, you can only listen to the track yourself. But, according to the law, you are not allowed to play that track out to lets say 10 people...
Haven't you noticed that on records sometimes there is written
quote:
it is forbidden to play this record in public area's

Well, Clubs pay a (usually HUGE) amount of money to RIAA to obtain the copyrights on that record for the amount of people in the club.

To come back to your ripping of the vinyl: It is allowed to make backups from your records as long as it is for yourself. It isn't allowed to sell your "backups" (DUH ). Since you Payd the rights on the records, you can make copies for yourself.

I have my decks linked up to my pc via my decks mixer, using a wav editor / studio program (SoundForge i use) i record it onto my hdd drive. remember to setup your soundcard in your settings to record (do this by clicking the speaker icon in your startmenu, bottom right hand corner). If there are any more problems feel free to ask...i have subscribed to this thread.

Once you're physically plugged to your computer, heres how to configure your soundcard for recording off your mixer.

In your case, select line in instead of stereo input.

If you are using a sound blaster audigy front panel for your line in, use auxiliary 2. (Line in/mic 2 is the front micro plug) Names could be different, as those I mentionned are for the soundblaster audigy 2 platinium.
