Question Supersweet... boring?

Did any of you TA's out there find Supersweet boring? I am not saying the dj's were bad, they mixed very well. But the choice of songs were just lacking in energy. Sure it wasn't all bad, Taucher was really good, but I was expecting more from Way Out West. Supersweet was not as good as Wicked last October.(not counting the power outage)Maybe I'm just trippin, what did you guys think about it?

Thumbs down

Totally agree with you Jesten. Compared to Wicked, Supersweet wuz pretty crappy. Well, actually, no comparison needed at all. I say Supersweet licked this year.

Firstly, there wuzn't as many ppls as expected. Last year, the dance floor wuz packed and so were the bleachers. This year, I doubt we had more than quarter of the seats filled up and the dance floor wuz maybe half to three-quarters packed at most. Secondly, music wuzn't too too great. There wuz some weird mixes thrown in there. If I remember correctly, I heard a lot of tribal shit in the main room. Like, wtf?? However, I wuz pretty gone, so dun't listen to me =) The only thing that I liked wuz the lighting. But even that, I have seen better at other parties. So, in general, this year's Supersweet wuz pretty disappointing.

Which other fellow TAs went to Supersweet and wut are your thoughts?

i didnt go to this (unfortunately) but im wondering.. jesten, maybe way out west kept to their progressive style?
that would be a big reason for a "lack of energy", because prog doesn't have the catchy kick drums and fast bpm... taucher is MUCH more of an uplifting, energizing dj

and w/ the trance audience in vancouver, well... we couldn't even get up for tall paul. (pathetic)

so.. would you say they played this style, which is their "signature sound"? (check out nick warren's global underground cds to compare) deeply progressive?

or was it just bad selection

Your right Patticus, that is their style. Way Out West are great DJ/producers, it's just their style is something I would listen to while I'm driving, not when I'm partying. I just thought they might pick up the tempo being live. I wasn't just them, the whole night the music was kinda slow.

yeah i definitely know what you mean... thanks for the review though.
i suppose if we were in england or something everyone would be raving about a beatufiul emotional progressive set, but... here... if its not 140bpm, you dont stand a chance.

i mean, just listen to G-Spot on the radio
