gettin nontrancers trancey

ok ive got a question, sorry if its been done before... how do you get nontrancers into trance? as in, what song do you think the best way to get them into trance would be. some people are just unturnable, like some music i will never like, but there has to be a good method in getting more people into trance. i hate being in cars when trance isnt playin.

for me, i started out with the prodigy - music for a jilted generation, then moved on to johnny vicious, but the thing that turned the leaf over was pf project - euphoria 3.. great album.

what do you guys think?

Okay dude.. if you want to get people into trance..um play some Sammy or Lasgo for them. I mean I know you and I know its cheese.. but to them it will be popish enough to the point where they will start liking it. Thats how i got my ex into trance. I played some Sammy. Then Some lasgo.. some Ian Van Dahl.. then some Van Dyk, then some Oakenfold, then I got her into Tiesto, and even into some progressive.

1 good way is 2 tie them 2 a chair. Crank up the trance tunes in the background and re-enact the “DIY ear operation” scene from the film reservoir dog. That will surely convince anybody.

That's what I was going to say, and that's also how my tastes evolved...

ive found with my mates who arent really into trance tend to like stuff that instantly jumps out at you as trance. I just burned a friend a cd with tracks like Scot Project - Overdrive, Carte Blanche - Veracocha, Lee Haslam - Music Is The Drug. these tracks are obviously all quite high energy tunes, & not far off being quite radio friendly. lower tempo tracks dont go down aswell, perhaps because they arent as instantly accessible to people, & arent as catchy.

So i 'spose start em on some classics, thats how i got into it. Lending them your copy of Paul Oaknefold - Tranceport 1 would be a good start.

Always give them radio edits at first. Most likely they don't have the attention span to listen to the tunes in their full glory.

i don't recommend cheese. it took me a while to get into trance because everyone played cheese for me at first. i just happened to be hanging around sometimes when people were playing beautiful, uplifting songs and i would ask about them. they were always surprised, saying stuff like, "oh i thought you didn't like trance. i'm surprised you like this!" most people want their music to be beautiful. let them hear the good stuff. try to stay away from any heavy bass at first because most people stereotype all electronic music as just a heavy thumping bass and cheesy synths. figure out what kind of music they already like and go for similar sounds and ideas.

exactly.. i thought i hated trance cause i knew i hated the cheezy shit they play on the radio.. remixes of songs people already like is also a good route given if theres any available. (not my idea, just liked the idea and decided to post it)
