Club Music
OKay, U wanna go to a club. Have a few drinks with your mates, perhaps some of your mates wanna get on it, and perhaps some dont. You wanna see meet pretty members of the opposite sex, and have a dance to some half decent music.
You are sick of/dont like commercial house, most trance is to hard or to cheezy and loud, most prog is lifeless and requires a fair bit of drugs to get stuck into and breaks all nite does your head in
What sort of music/night would appeal to you?

House thats not commercial.
You've ruled out Trance (tech trance too i suppose) and prog (my normal weapons of choice), no way I'm going near RnB, Hip-hop; Top 40 = teenybopper cheese; techno, hardstyle and DnB don't do it for me.
House will always attract the chicks, but you don't want to get too commercial (which you ruled out anyway) or else you'll probably attract the poser crowd
House is the only one left I think..........

interesting question right there - i recommend posting this question in the Music discussion forum...
personally i like lots of different styles of music but not one of them includes top 40/video hits/blah blah blah crap
sitting around and chilling with a couple mates at a bar i like some quiet proggy breaks, when i rock i love nothing more than the sounds of wicked melodic trance. my dream is that djs will start to realise that it's not only the new stuff that they need to play but the occasional classic is great for everyone to hear as well! personally the top 40 crap annoys the hell out of me because i hear the tracks played all over the place ie. tv commercials and shows
hearing the same tracks when i go out just ruin them for me. Motorcycle - As the Rush clubs (every mix) is one that i am OVER. it's been played! take it out of the record box for at least 2 years, PLEASE!!!
the best sets i reckon are the ones with the largest variety of tracks both new and old with 1 or 2 quieter ones to give the hardcore dancers a break. no one plays tracks like Universal Nation anymore because they think it's old or whatever but people love to hear tracks they havent heard in ages...
gyarh i'm ranting again

^^agree
I've learnt that it's much cheaper to buy a carton and stay at home listening to whatever music you've got on your computer with some mates than go out and hear annoying music and pay inflated prices for drinks.

speaking of the minimal, glitchy techy housey thing, went to Honky Tonks on Saturday for the first time in about 6 months and had an absolute ball....hmmm...

What night was it? I've only been there recently for Lasergun. Speaking of which, electro is also good for getting punters of both sexes up on the dancefloor...

Standard Saturday nite with Angela Maison, Bongmist et all...it was more housey than tech housey...also had a live group PLay for about 1/2 an hour who were pretty good....
