What's the story with these 2 tracks?

I was listening to my Love Parade cd and found out Mario Piu & Mauro Picotto's Imperiale is the same tune as Watergate's Heart of Asia.
Can someone tell me the story behind this? Is there a connection between the artists?

They both sample (or re-play) the soundtrack to the David Bowie film 'Merry Christmas Mr Laurence' by Ryuichi Sakamoto.
