Inexpensive but Quality?

Hi, I was wondering if someone here can help me. I have been using my roommate's Vestax tables but I am now moving to another city and would like to keep up with learning to spin. I'm wondering what your opinion is on the inexpensive tables that are good quality.

Also, on a completely unrelated note, I've used Tech 12's and find them amazingly easier to use, especially because once I get the mix I can just leave the records where as my roommate's Vestax decks tend to wander, does anyone know what makes this difference?

So anyways, any suggestions on cheap but half-decent decks would be appreciated. These are to learn on but I can't see myself being able to afford new ones for a few years either so I don't want to get total crap, y'know?

Thanks!

Hmm, I wish decks like that existed ... I heard some good things about the Stanton STR-8 series (60 and 80), but I never had a chance to spin on those so I can't really share any first hand experiences.

Solid build and quality components ... hey, the 1200s cost a lot for a reason =).

peace

yeh dude dont get the stanton - 100 they are waste of money! Yesterday i went to the music store and tried them out! they are good but not good for the price they sell for! They were selling it for $450. I was like whoa dude! You might as well get the techs 1200 mk2's for the same price 450. or spend another 50 dollars and get the MK3. If i were you i would check out stanton 80's or the 60's. Or check out Numark, they have some nice tables! OH yeh i think vestax are better than techs in a way! Sorry guys i am a vestax fan!

Ok...here we go.....as a lot of you probably know, I've always been very opinionated towards Technics 1200s usually trying to encourage people to hold out until they can afford them. Well...check this out.....Me and a very good friend of mine, who installs sound systems in clubs all over the US, sat down the other day for quite a while and by the time we were done, I knew a lot that I didn't know before. Denon makes a turntable model DP DJ151 that IS by all rights Technics. Upon digging into one, I've been shown that they are made by Panasonic (who makes Technics) and use the exact same parts as the Tech 1200s except the Denons have a few added features....like digital output for one. That means that you can change the tempo of a record without changing the pitch (just like the dual CDs). Also, They've got 3 different brake speeds, removable RCA jacks. Underneath the platter, it is sealed...so that if you were to do something dumb like spill a drink on them...it would not go into the circuit board and fuck anything up. They have the same torque as the 1200s and several other features.......AND....they cost about $200 less than the 1200s.
