the best program to use is *probably* TMPEG. Make sure you check for errors before you re-encode (using check for sync errors in virtualdub). It takes a long time to do aswell.. approx. 4 hours to re-encode from divx to mpeg2 on a 2.133 ghz (AXP 2700+) machine using a 2 hour piece of video footage. Encoding from raw AVI to divx likely takes even longer. Don't be surprised if it takes 10+ hours to encode your footage (assuming it is reasonably long and you don't have such a fast proc...)

I don't get it...
I'm trying to encode my 50 minute Dance Valley video from MPG to DivX avi and after exactly 127.7 megabytes it stops! (that's about 33% of the entire video) it's done this three times now...does anybody know why?
