Need some speaker help :)

hi,
i bought a 5.1 kit for my pc a few weeks back now and im having problems with it. Firstly every 20 minutes or so i hear a very loud crackle, then in another 20 mins or so it happens again. also the rear bell on the subwoofer seems to hum/hiss when the bass air comes out.

If any1 knows what might be causin this then please tell me as i've shelle dout £40 for them and i really dont wanna have tos end them back and the guy say theres nothing wrong with them, then i have to cover return post.

the rear bell? are you talking about the port (big hole)?

Cause it is common that some subwoofers have this port noise.. usually due to poorly designed enclosures. If that's the case, there's not much you can do about it. try stuffing some foam or a sock into the port opening (dont put it all the way inside!) and see how it sounds.

can't help you with that speaker crackle though

yeh the big hole. wont putting stuff into maybe cause damage?

hehe nah i got one no the front aswell. oh well its p1ssing me off enough so if it fecks up then nevermind ill buy a better set

EDIT: Rite stuck a sock through the tube on the inside, seems a whole lot better now

just got the crackle problem still

Not at all!!

All it will do is change the enclosure from being ported to sealed, which imo is better anyways. Sealed enclosures have "tighter, less boomy bass" where as ported enclosures have "muddy boomy bass."

Its all a personal preference though.
