Question What in the heck is Psytekk?

After conducting a search for this term and getting scant few results, I turn to the masses for help. Can anyone give me a general definition for this term and suggest to me some artists?

Thanks.

Psytekk is a blending of psychedelic trance and progressive house that surely failed. I mean, listen to a tune and it'll be fine but listen to it for a whole hour and you'll feel like attacking the DJ with a barbecue grill. Believe me: I know.

Get anything from GMS, Shiva Chandra (the pioneer), Astrix, Alien Project... the best (aka less worse) psytekk tune I've ever heard is:

GMS and Chicago - In a mission from God

Your sig has Psytekk listed as "minimal psytrance". Surely GMS and Alien Project aren't minimal?! If anything GMS is the opposite of minimal and Alien Project is certainly full-on psy as well... maybe I'm misunderstanding your definition?

hmm... maybe my definition was too confusing

The fact is that in the university I used to study, they would play psytekk during the break and I once asked the DJ for some names and she mentioned "Alien Project" for some reason, although I believe it's not a very good example. If I only could use my server to upload samples In any case, here goes my unbiased definition:

Minimal Psytrance (aka psytekk): As already stated, it's a blending of psychedelic trance and progressive house. Less busy than other forms of psytrance, it's usually just a dark bassline pattern with a not-very-melodic synthline and some FX on top.

Example:

Shiva Chandra - Triphase
After you listen to this tune you're going to understand why it's "minimalistic"

Talamasca Vs Manitu - Genetic Monster (GMS Remix)
Personally, I consider it as minimal trance because of its simplicity and lack of "melody", even though it's blatantly more banging than Shiva Chandra's tune.

edit: Starglider, what's your definition? Maybe I got something wrong, I'm looking forward to hearing your opinion too

deinfintions definitions.....psy-tech is just psy trance with more percussion. tech as in tech-no. Too many people use the word progressive to categorize things. Alien project would most certainly fall in the category of psytech....or psychadelic techno/trance. His stuff is banging, got the psy trance bassline, but much more percussion which makes it "techy"

What am I to do if pretentious producers call progressive house this way? This genre is supposed to be a blend of psy-trance and progressive house (aka trancey house, as you will ), which led to a less melodical and more rhythmical sound: how else could I have said that?

it seems like these tracks would fall under this psytech genre:

B E L - Teatime
Akasha Project - Always
B Ashra - Pass to Infinity
C O N Sequencer feat. Milque - Brain Messiah
E-Chip - E-Chip (Akanoids 4001 Remix)
Oszilla - Inside a Computer Program
Sphere - New Beginning

they're all slower than regular psytrance, alot more minimal, and have got a tech feel.
