Heh, I'll have to retype my post (in shorter form) due to internet unreliability. :/
I own a VMX-300 (for about a year now) and can say that for the money, this is a great board.
That said, there are some complaints I do have:
1. Channel 1 crackles from time to time, rendering it essentially unusable.
2. The fader for channel 2 is getting stiff -- although it works fine from a sonic standpoint, I can imagine that eventually this stifness will degrade to further mechanical problems with this particular channel.
3. I might be hearing things, but there seems to be a slight, ever so slight decrease in volume on channel 3 from time to time.
However, the knobs are great and I have no gripes with them. The volume levels for each channel are a blessing and really help when sound matching.
To conclude, for the money, this is a great board. That being said, if you really want something top-of-the-line (that will be very reliable and last you a long time), go for something like Allen & Heath Xone 32 or Vestax PCV-275 or Pioneer DJM-500/600. They may be more expensive, but they are worth it.
In the end, just make sure you research your decision so that you are confident about it when you make it (and are comfortable when you open up your wallet).
Good luck!
