It usually means the producers are using that nickname for the track, for example the title of that tune is basically telling you that Motorcyle = Gabriel and Dresden... just saying who it's by

There's some exceptions, like sometimes it's the vocalists name, but it's usually just telling you who produced it.

Sometimes it just means that they are one and the same. Often you'll see a big name "present" a lesser known alias, probably so more people will notice it, eg:

Filterheadz pres. Orange 3 - In Your Eyes
Johan Gielen pres. A Special Person - We Move Like Shadows
Oliver Lieb pres. Smoked - Metropolis

This is essentially the case with ATRC.

It could also have a different meaning which just implies a collaboration of some sort, eg:

Solar Stone pres. Elizabeth Fields - Speak In Sympathy
Libra pres. Taylor - Anomaly (Calling Your Name)

Like most other similar connecting terms favoured in the trance world (featuring, versus, and, etc.) it tends not to have a fixed definition and ultimately just depends on what the artists or label decide to write on the sleeve.

Smoking ..umm..something

used when a 'new' guise is established w/ the 1st track they produced. After the 1st track I think they drop the "presents.."

Usually if it's a collaboration with a singer or something it is "featuring" like for example Paul van Dyk feat. Vega 4 - Time of our Lives. I think "presents" would mislabeling in that case.

As a general rule that's true but there are, naturally, exceptions. The example I gave was Solar Stone pres. Elizabeth Fields - Speak In Sympathy. Fields is the vocalist and Solar Stone the producers, yet they use the term "presents". This is also true in the following examples:

Mr Joshua pres. Espiritu - In Praise Of The Sun
Ruff Driverz pres. Arrola - Dreaming

So basically there are no set rules...
