My first post! Anyone selling decks?

Hi all,

Firstly, I have been cruising these forums for a while now but haven't posted or registered before due to being overseas and not having alot of time to surf the internet. Now that im settled back here you'll be hearing alot more from me!

Which brings me to my question: Does anyone (in Sydney) have decks they want to sell me? I bought back alot of vinyl but having nothing to play them on! Im looking for Technics or Vestax, and im also looking for a 2 or 3 channel mixer. Mixer must have seperate eq's for each channel.

Cheers,
Michael

hahaha

But seriously, go to Intermusic in bondi, i bought a Stanton package consisting of 2 Stanton Direct Drive TTs, Stanton Mixer and Headphones...though a Technic is better suited but these Stantons are good to start off with since they are cheap...they are only 1000 bucks for the whole set...pretty good value....

and yes i realised that you want Technics or rather, but just check these out...you won't be disappointed.

I was mixing on Gemini's in London and there just wasn't enough torque, you only had to touch the platter and the mix would go out. All my mates had Technics 1210's and they are just so much easier to mix on. I will check out the store in Bondi, cheers for the info dude.

Considering someone wants to buy decks and there are a few dj's on these forums someone might be able to answer a few questions for me.

1. With TT's, is there a big difference with the tone arms? ie. straight or s-shaped. Which is better for beat mixing?

2. I know that technics are the way to go, being the industrie standard and all but there bloody expensive. Does anyone use anything other than technics and what do you think of them?ie. torque, pitch controls etc.....

I have a few more but lost my train of thought but i'll see how these 2 go.

Cheers.....

straight tone arms are better for scratching but cause more record wear

s causes less wear but isnt as good for scratching (but then again the DMC comps are done on technics so they cant be that bad right?)

as to your second question ive got technics so i cant help out.

1. well, i don't think there is a better TT for beat-matching IMO BUT there is better TTs for quality all round, and thats the Technic.

2. I have Stanton ones, to be honest they are very annoying...i mean it's possible to beat-match, scratch or whatever BUT they have plenty of faults. I don't know if it's the needle but there are annoying volume drops and the most annoying is a BIG "VOOOOM" sound that comes...i'm sure it's the needle but still get yourself a Technic, who cares about the price, at least you won't go insane and attempt to spin kick your TTs.

cdr readin above!

but all you need to know is:

DECKS:
Buy technics..... there is no rival.. unless u wanna pay like $3000 for a vestax BAH!! up pu pu... i dont wanna hear it! TECHNICS

MIXER:
if you can afford it get something like a pioneer djm 600 or 500 dont say "oh im a begginer i dont need something fancy" casue in a few weeks you will be like " shit this mixer is such a noob mixer" you would be surprised how much you advance in your mixing.

good luck!
