Adjusting the treble with a track has a variety of uses. Firstly, it can be used as a "cheap effect" often when a song is building up, it helps to slowly bring the treble up farther then bring it back to its normal level right before the kick into the climax. I'm sure you've heard this done before...secondly, if you take out some of the treble while mixing a track into another, it may help if the track you're mixing into has a shrill hi-hat or noise that clashes with the song you're mixing out of. Just remember to bring it back to its normal level by the end of the mix or the song will sound muffled. Hope that helped, I'm sure there are other uses for the treble control as well

adjusting the treble plays a big role in my transitions.

when i'm mixing sort of your standered run of the mill 4 on the floor prog. song, i'll sart out with the new track wiht lows killed all the way, mids down to about 50% from the zero mark, and the highs about 60% from the zero mark (0db). as i mix into the tracks, the treble is the first thing i mix from the tracks. i'll slowly bring up the chanel of the new track and as i do that, i bring down the treble of the old track. i will slowly adjust things until i get the channel of the new song to 100%. at the end of a measure, i will bring the treble of the song playing to about 50% and bring up the treble of the new song to about 15% HIGHER than the zero mark.
i will then slowly mix the basses in and swap them slowly as measures pass and the time seems appropriate. then i will bring up the mids of the new track and slowly bring down the volume of the old track. some time's as i bring down the volume of the old track, i bring up the mids on it so you can still hear it and in the mix and so the cut in the end of the mix doesn't sound so sudden.

yeha thats what I do too sorta...I make sure that the track Im mixing out of has it's mids higher than the mids on the incoming track..that way it'll still give the track some substance and not sound like it's just being drained out with channel faders.
Treble is very important, as regulating the level of highs is crucial especially in trance where the melody can be dampened or sharpened with high EQs.
Also, try cutting everything out EXCEPT for your high EQ, and have it on 100%...kinda creates a static, white noise filter effect(At least IMO)
