alright, so heres my problem. i got a new dsl service for my house and i bought a wireless linksys router (802.11b). now the internet works on every computer, but since the dsl has a dynamic ip, not static, i have to restart the router and the dsl modem everyday because the connection will die when the ip renews.
first of all i want to fix that gay shit. i dont want to have to restart that shit EVERY day!
and another thing, i cant access any ftp sites with this shit because either of the firewall in the router or cuz of the gay ip renewing, i dunno. i'm running winxp, and running the connection from the dsl modem directly into the uplink of the router, and then to all the computers. i do have two nic cards in my comp if that'll make things easier in anyway (dsl modem --> my box --> router --> the other comps in the house) maybe?
also, when i do ipconfig in dos, i see the ip of my router, not my actual ip. maybe that has something to do with it.
i dunno, any idea. cuz this shit is getting quite annoying.
edit: i also have a linksys hub, if that might work better, dsl modem --> hub --> comps or dsl modem --> my box --> hub --> other comps ??? |
well on my configuration at home i have my DSL box connected to a SOHO router which is connected to my hub which is connected to all the computers.
I've never had a problem with the dynamic IP of my DSL. my soho router works as a DHCP server, so all the computers on the network have to do is obtain their IP info automaticaly so they all get their own IP addy pluse gateway to the internet (the router).
what is your actualy set up in your house and how do you have your TCP/IP info configured on your comps. I need a little more info
