correct me if i am wrong, but if your weight is just under 2.5 you should have lots of room left to go before you can't put more weight on. |
That's what I thought as well, but it doesn't seem to happen for me.
| quote: | turn the weight till the tonearm balances out level, then set the number ring only to 0. then you will have it reset properly.
Put the weight as low as you can, without having it skip when cueing, and you are good to go. |
Yep, yep, I know how to set it up and do so according to that method. I've no idea why my 2.5 is so far along...

nope, it's definitely on the right way around.
It's kind of strange, because I couldn't put the weight on anymore, even if I wanted to.

yeah, you probably need to use the weight that you screw into the top of the headshell to make it even out:
those weights are pretty easy to lose though. I have seen people get around this by taping a penny to the top, it looks a little ghetto but it works. |
Well, the thing is that I don't need the extra weight. I'm just wondering why my 2.5g on the weight is the max weight that I can apply.

because the 2.5 setting is relative to the weight on the other end of the tonearm. if you put a 4 gram weight on the headshell end of the tonearm, you are going to have just under 4 more grams of pressure to play with on the side with the weight on it, it's simple physics. |
hmmm... okay, I'm now understanding you. Hadn't thought of that. Well, I think I'm good for the moment. Putting on the weight at the front of the headshell won't change the amount of weight on the record, so I won't change that for now.

I wonder if a turntable has ever been used to weigh out drugs? think about it, you could use it to weigh out like by balancing it to 0, putting the drugs on the headshell, then turning it till it balances!
even better, you could get a little bowl that would screw into the top where the headshell weight goes, then you could put your powdered E or whatever in there. |
I'm sure you can get cheaper scales to use, than a turntable. Although in the clubbing circles, you could probably argue that turntables would be more appropriate and possibly even appreciated by the users. One could start selling drugs as being "weighed on an authentic and original Technics SL1200mk2 turntable"
