One thing I don't get... (legal stuff)

so hooj and kismet have their tracks ready for download for £1 or something.. so how is this different from burning a track to mp3? what sort of proof do I get that I legally downloaded that track? 'Cos otherwise gettin' it from some other source and burning it would get no problems right?
can somebody explain me?!
cheers!

They're just trying to do the same as a lot of the other sites are now. Everyone's scared of getting sued because of the whole music industry, napster thing and hooj is just trying to take advantage of it and give people a legal way to do it for those that actually care.
Unlike me, I buy vinyl, so i couldn't give a rats-ass about the whole deal. I support the music industry.

You probably get some sort of electronic receipt much like when you order vinyl off a website etc with your order number, details, details of the track downloaded and so on...

This whole RIAA stuff is totally stupid. The music industry isnt going to stop us, and even if we're sued, jailed, or executed, we will not stop! FREEDOM!

just reading through the details of the hooj service, it says you need a code from the order to play the tracks, and that it'll only work on the one PC, although it also says you can burn it to CD. Has anyone actually used the service and can tell us how good the quality is, and whether you can use those cd's as normal audio?

I've downloaded from Kismet Records and it's a normal 192 kps mp3 file. When filling the form they ask for the address to send the receipt so I guess that will be the proof it's legal. As for Hooj the whole process seems weird, since I'm gonna burn it on CDR and then if I want to I can always rip it to mp3... so what's the point of having all the trouble in digital signatures for one computer?
Anyways I expect to buy 5 tracks from them soon, so I'll post details afterwards. As for Kismet, thumbs up!
