Talking Newbie asking newbie question about mixers

Hey, I'm just sort of checking in and saying hello. I should probably say right off the bat that I have no aspirations of mixing for a living or even in front of other people, so I guess that puts me in the bedroom deejay/poseur category, which is cool with me.

Anyways, with that behind me, I have a couple of questions if you guys won't mind indulging my curiosity here. (I cruised the sticky threads and couldn't find any descent answers)

What do you think about Behringer DJ mixers? They have a pretty good reputation for value with their line of compact mixers, one of which (Eurorack UB1002) I use for its two mic pre-amps for my PowerMac line-in.

My roommate's girlfriend might be giving me one or two turntables soon (not sure which ones), so I'm just looking for a descent mixer to get me started.

Anyways, I'm looking forward to learning all about this stuff. I played around on a friend's Technic 1200s (what a friend, eh?) and now I'm anxious to have some fun with it unsupervised.

Behringer make quality mixers, that's all there is to it. Right now I'm currently using a Behringer VMX300 and honestly I couldn't ask for a better mixer. Most people will say you need a Pioneer or Allen & Heath, but if you're just playing for the fun of it, this is the mixer for you.

You can easily pick one up for >$200 and it will definitely suit your needs. I highly recommend it, and you will find that the majority of bedroom DJ's use this mixer. Some people have been raving about the Pioneer clone, the DJX700 I believe it is, but I have no first hand knowledge of it so I can't give my opinion on it. Either way, you'll do just fine with a Behringer mixer. Enjoy!
