Pluggin Your TTs into your Computer

Hey guys, I went to pick up my computer that I left at a friends house to move it into my own apartment and turns out my 1 year old Turtle Beach Santa Cruz sound card shit the bed!

So I was thinkin not only replace it but I figure I'll upgrade it as well.
I want to be able to plug my mixer directly into my computer so I can perfect and finish off my mixes and get them on cd.
Do any of you guys have any recommendations on what kind of sound card would be best? Also what kind of programs and software do you guys use??? Where to get em?

I'm not really lookin on spendin a shitload of money but def something decent... any input appreciated!

If you want a good program to polish up your mixes Sound Forge is a good program to do it with. As for the technical part of hooking up your equipment to your computer I dont know about that - yet - but Im sure someone else can.

Creative makes good soundcards for everything. I don't know of any music producer specific soundcards (i know they're out there though), but i don't think you can go wrong with a higher end creative soundcard.

turtle beach is a good soundcard, creative is for the commercial masses, i would try to stay away from them as much as possible. if you're willing to shell out some cash to get a top of the line recording card, then i suggest you get something from the m-audio series. I would suggest an M-Audio 24/96 for recording, that's what i plan on getting.

Honestly, I have a shit soundcard and my mixes still sound decent. Even when I had a $30 mixer, my mixes sounded the same as they do now that I upgraded my mixer.

I think the difference in quality you hear is very miniscule no matter what you're soundcard/mixer (within reason of course) unless you're talking very high end equipment.
