Dunno new sound card.. advice.. possibly m-audio.

hey all.. im getting rid of my audigy 2 platinum sound card because i hate it.. actually its going into another pc but anyhow.. its not wat i expected and i need something thats geared for production.. im sure this has been brought up before and i have searched but came up empty handed.. so i was wonder wat you all might recommend. the two i've came up w/ are:

m-audio delta 410 .. $110
m-audio audiophile 2496 ... $140

i have a m-audio radium 49 midi keyboard.. which i plug in usb if that makes a difference.. i want rca inputs because i also record from my TTs or minidisc to the pc. i've got 5.1 speakers for my computer but surround sound isn't absolutely necessary for this cuz eventually im gonna get some monitors and just use the surround speakers for my dvd player.. but i think surround can be done virtually anyways w/ software.. i'm using a variety of production software from reason, to cubase, to fruityloops etc.. please help me find a good card.. also i have an asus p4pe motherboard, 2.4ghz p4, 1gig ram.. if that makes a difference. aite thanks!!!

i use the m-audio delta 44 and I'm very satisfied with it. remember, just because some equipment you use has RCA outs doesnt mean you're soundcard needs RCA ins. you can use 1/4" adapters for your RCA cables.

yes.. thanks.. but the only long cables i have are rca to rca.. i have a couple rca to 1/4" cables but they are only like 6ft and my decks are further away.. i suppose i could go buy another cable. im just low on funds these days. so spending less is better.

You can get adaptors that go from rca to 1/4".

But anyway, if you want surround, midi and stereo in/out, the audiophile is a good choice. It has the ability to go 5.1 through the digital line. You need a decoder box for it, but if its something that you want for gaming or whatever, it coul dbe handy. A good card nonetheless.

oh.. nah i dont need it for gaming.. and i dont watch movies on the pc so 5.1 isn't necessary. so w/ that in mind.. which should i get.. the audiophile or the delta 410?
