don't think you can automate DXi's... might be a way around it like using a midi out channel or something... not sure.

but with most VST's (that i have tryied out atleast) it's just to open up the VST and in the top left corner you have a red button.. press that and under EDIT EVENT you have what you can automate.

i know that VAZ for example can't be automated that way. first you have to make a MIDI OUT channel and then somehow get it connected too VAZ and automate it that way.. haven't really got it too work yet thou :/

Hello dbl, i found an easier way, beacuse your trick, can be annoying with so many knobs, if a vst have that offcource..

Now, you cant press the right mouse button and click automate event, for some reason..

so this is how i do it easy..For example i open albino, i wanne automate a cutoff filter, i select the main automation pattern(i like to work with 1 automation pattern)

then i put from song mode in to pattern mode, and press RECORD button, after it get started playing just move the knob you wanne automate up and down, and stop the track, then GO TO CURRENT PROJECT, there are the window events placed, and you CAN automate the knob further in the window, and it works

hope that helped

I forgot to say, this doesn't work in vaz

Cool

using automation, (eg. filter cutoff)

on the vst in the top right there is a port number, drag this to a number you wish.

open a midi out channel, then go to preset and find your vst.

now match the port on the midi out to the port on the vst.

in a new pattern (helpful if next to the pattern to be influenced by the automation) go to the midi out and find the knob that needs using, then right click and edit events.

draw the filter cutoff automation in you wish to take place.

make sure the pattern is placed correctly in the playlist, it is often also wise to have another pattern at full cutoff when the previous pattern is finished (assuming you are bringing a low pass filter up) so that there is full filter effect where you want it to be.

hope that helped
