ha, my search for the perfect cd setup just ended last week.
a short version of a long story...
I started out with dual cd decks...Pioneer CMX3000. Loved them. They did everything I wanted them to do, an outstanding buy. They unfortunately broke on me. I got in touch with the guy I bought them from and he agreed to take them back, and give me credit on something else. (I'll get back to this)
So I'm in the city one day, and I see this store on Canal Street is selling the Denon s5000 really cheap. Without thinking, I bought one right away. It's a very cool machine to play around with, but I ended up selling it, because it's essentially a toy. The moving platter is cool at first, but when you really get down to it, why the hell do you need a moving platter? Cd players should be cd players, not exactly like TT's. It was a very confusing machine, and the thing that really annoyed me was the supposed 'instant start' that is totally does not have. When you hit play on a Pioneer deck, it starts instantaneously. The Denon deck took a a fraction of a second to start, cause of the damn platter that needs to start. Like when you hit play on a TT, there's that small drag time it takes to get the record up to speed. same with the Denon deck. Another thins that was just retarded was the pitch controls. The Denon deck's best pitch range was .05 +/- 4% which is not very good. So, I sold it. It was just a hassle all around. Too many buttons, too many useless functions, and that instant start thing was unforgivable.
Back to my credit with the Pioneer guy. Without even testing one out, I just paid the difference and got a CDJ1000MK2. It arrived, and I fell in love with it. Very simple layout, with tons of usefull functions. I didn't have to study the instruction manual to figure out how to use it. Scratch mode is amazing, looping, stored cue points, everything. It's an amazing machine, not some stupid DJ toy. The pitch range is fuckign unreal. .02 at 6%, and then .05 at 10, and then 16% and then total control at 100%
With the money I got for my Denon and a little I saved up, I started looking for another deck. I looked at the CDJ800, the 1000, and the Numark one. Straight up, the Numark one is gay. Another toy compared to the Pioneer's. It's pitch range was awful, it looked ugly, it was just a gay machine.
The 800 I liked a LOT. Lot's of cool functions, but it's lack of hot cues and stepped pitch change made me go with the 1000. Which brings me tt the 1000. If I had to recomend one of the decks you listed, I'd definitely say go with the 1000. They're pretty much identical to the MK2, save for some minor cosmetic differences, and a cue marker, it's the same damn machine. I essentially paid $1000 for my MK2, and got my 1000 for $799 at Guitar Center. For $200 less, I'd definitely suggest the 1000. Feature for feauture, and factoring in price, and feel, the 1000 comes out on top by a longshot.
if I had to rank the ones that you listed that I owned or tested out, it would be
Pioneer CDJ1000
Pioneer CDJ1000MK2
Pioneer CDJ800
Denon S5000
gay ass Numark CND
Good luck!
