BIO

Steve Porter was introduced to the world of DJ mixing via Moonshine Music’s large array of DJ CDs. The year was 1996 and young Steve was barely 16. He became enthralled with this new music and began to search it out to learn his own skills.

By the Summer of ’98, Steve’s passion grew beyond just DJ'ing as he began purchasing equipment to make his own tracks. With no musical training, he began to put together tracks purely on observation and study. Later that year, as his DJ'ing was reaching an all time high throughout the local club and rave scene, 4 demo tracks found their way into Chris Fortier’s hands. Chris phoned up to ask for acetates. With Steve being barely 20 years of age, Chris recognized his talent and brought him under his wing. Chris’s first notion was to re-launch his popular Fade Records label off the back of Steve’s productions and make Steve the foundation of the label for 1999. These 4 tracks were polished and released in the summer of 1999. Steve quickly became noticed with top DJs such as Sasha and John Digweed playing the tracks. At this time Chris was working closely with Steve to develop his sound to a further maturity. The second release was titled Sensor and Mindless and took Steve to another level. To date these two tracks have made their way onto 10 compilations including Anthony Pappa’s Nu Breed CD for Global Underground. Riding this wave of success, many labels from around the world began calling on Steve to remix track for their labels.

Steve has made a huge splash with his unique twist of techno edged trance productions. On the DJ front, his two successful residencies in Boston at Rise and Hybernia continue to thrive. It has also taken him international, with gigs in Ireland and England in September 2000 as well as the highly touted ACA Fest in Acapulco, Mexico in November. Steve has impressed so many that he has now been invited to join the Balance Promote Group DJ Agency and is hailed by DJ Mag as "The American of the Moment" for his remix of Sloth and Dormant
