Want to be on the radio? I might be a DJ soon so submit!!!!

Ok yeah so my buddy who isn't the best mixer is already a DJ on this college radio station that broadcasts to alot of southern california. Its KUCI on 88.9 or something like that.
Anyways, non-students are allowed to apply for their FCC training and to become volunteer's I think 4 times a year, and needless to say I'll be applying soon, and trying to get a show as soon as possible. My buddy doesn't even mix any of his songs, just kind of volume fades even sometimes in the middle of a track hahaha so it can't be that hard.

The point? They don't really let you play top 40 stuff, and I want to be kind of an amateur act anyways... so what I want to do is play SOME popular trance and ALOT of unsigned talent! If this sounds like something you think you'd be into, post here AND PM me (so the thread stays up) where I can get a direct download of your amateur dance/trance/house/ something similar. It will need to be DJ friendly (lot of plain drums at the front and back) since I want it to be a live mix like at a rave, and hopefully between 130-150 BPM's (although I might do some slow stuff sometimes, just not any happy hardcore (I will dropkick that shit out the window)). If you want to get me a super high quality version PM me and I'll give you my mailing address for a CD.

Thanks for listening everyone! You're [mostly] all very talented and I'd love to start playing your stuff! I need to build my library of talent so the sooner the better. The radio station also has an MP3 stream for those of you outside southern california.

Mike

This is a bit of an ignorant thread if you ask me.

First of all, people are posting tons of stuff on these boards for you to download and play if you want, if a producer here doesnt want their stuff played they either say it or dont give you a full track.

Any high quality MP3 posted here is good enough for you to download and burn. 192kbps is pretty much CD quality (although i know there are sonic arguments but for the sake of discussion its good enough) Also, on radio FM to be specific, you are not sending out anything high quality enough for anyone to notice so they dont have to send you a SUPER HIGH QUALITY track on CD. Most radio stations compress the shit out of their signals in order to get all the sound through a tight bandwidth. (If you want more info about that PM me, i used to work in radio)

Also, its kinda cocky to tell people to start SENDING you their tracks, so you can play them on a College radio station and on a show that you assimilate with a 'Rave.' I will bet most producers here wouldn't like to be associated with the word rave! Anyway i used to DJ on an independent radio station, so i know how it goes, we had a market of over 200,000 people.

Sorry if i sound like a dick, but my advice is this, get tracks from the production board and ask if the producers mind you playing it on your radio show. But dont post threads like this trying to get people to PM you or send you shit that you may or may not play. Until you're a big time DJ, or an A&R rep, no ones gonna send you anything.

Yeah you do sound like a dick. For every honest post theres always someone coming in with this negative BS. My suggestion is to simply move on and not try to bring the rest of the world down with you.

I'm obviously doing things this way because its much easier for me to have people who WANT their stuff played to come to me, rather than getting access to this hub (which I don't know the addy for) and hunting down everyone myself.

No hard feelings danieldavid, but I posted this for a reason. If you don't like it, move on.

EDIT: oh yeah - Massive84 - thanks for the helpful comment. I might actually check out the hub if I can get the addy from someone. I'm glad for your post, just not MR. Negative's bashing LOL.

Hey MR. POSITIVE stop being a jackass and read my post until it sinks in!

Perhaps then you'll figure out what i meant, and that you dont need any hub or secret address to get tunes, just back your browser up to the Amateur producers forum.

And i think Massive84 didnt mean to be helpful when he said, "CHECK THE HUBS" think that means, stop being lazy and find music for your goddamn self.

peace

Hahahahahhahaha. Nice comeback.

I did read your post, it sunk it, and now more than ever I realize it was an incredible waste of time.

See, even if massive84 was thinking to himself, "gee this guy doesn't know what hes doing", he at least provided some help in a positive, productive way. Rather than choosing to try and bash the whole thread hes showing a lack of insecurity and arrogance. Every point in your post, which could have been given in the form of helpful tips, was instead flavored with your own personal problems. I mean its kind of funny that you took EXTRA time to add the 'bashing' element to it, it really is.

I think its [omg] so obvious that I could get mp3's off the production forum, mp3.com, iuma, soundclick, but I made the post because I'm more interested in people who like my idea enough to take a little extra time. Neverrrrr said I was opposed to a hub, looking elsewhere, etc, just that I'm also looking for people willing to post. I mean honestly, alot of people still get excited about being played on even the smallest of stations.

So again, PLEASEEEEEE, if you don't have anything useful to say, just move on. I didn't make this post for people already signed, already being played everywhere, or people who generally aren't interested in a small time radio station. These people read and then shortly move on. I made this post for everyone ELSE, who may not have such opportunities yet.

Your attitude is not only counterproductive, but out of place. Move on.
