use cdex, it does everything.....encodes automatically, converts. Plus it is freeware.

LAME is a crime against humanity punishable only by death or an eternity of servitude to a horrid quality network, like kazaa. While I'm not entirely certain what backend CDEX uses, I *know* there are some GUI versions of lame at that link to encode wave files, using anything less than APS is just, foolish as well (-alt preset standard).. basically, it's the shit...
