Let's talk Technical Skills for Dj's

I'm FURIOUS to see that ppl on this board are SOOOO into trance ( and probably that they've never really heard a GREAT technical dj ) that they think that Pvd or armin or who cares what trance dj, are technically better than any other dj's !!!

Guys

Let's be serious

If Dj mag top 100 dj list would be a Technical skills competition..

DAVE CLARKE
BEN SIMS
CARL COX
And
PREACH

Would place in the top 4 ... Exactly the way i just listed them !

And Btw ...

COME ON

I've heard EVERY biG trance Dj's ( Armin, Ferry, marco V, Van Dyk to name a few ) i've yet to see oakie

BUT COME ON !!!!

Half of them can't even put two beats together ... and i'm not joking .. i'Ve never heard as many Trainwreck in a dj set then when i hear a Trance Dj

Believe me

I'm a house maniac ... i'm not really into techno at all

But NO DJ'S are better ( technically ) than Techno dj's .. let's be honest !!!

NO krinker, if we are talking best technical dj, I would say that cox, sims and clarke are up there but why forget one name "danny tenaglia". I find he is probably the best technical dj out there because his mixing is so spot on and he is fundamentally sound. If you were going to add another name, I'd add john digweed because he is the same technical wise as tenaglia. You may not like the music they play but digweed and tenaglia are in the top 5 of technical wise. What about Andy C, tremendously technical dj and very good at that. Music Magazines claim the most technically sound dj out there was Tony De Vit (RIP 1998) but I've only heard a few sets and I cannot make an opinion on that.

Man

Let's just say something my little man

When you'll be a Musical researcher for dj's ... then come back and talk to me ... hence .. you'll never talk to me

Believe me .. if someone knows what he's talking about here ... i'm the one, i've heard soooo many dj's, and heard .. SOOO many of them making SOOO many mistakes is their mix and SOOO amny times i've heard about a dj's who's great and everything .. but NONE have shown me as much skills as CLARKE, SIMS, PREACH and Cox

As for

Digweed and Tenaglia

Yeah ok for digweed i like his music and i like his style ... but again let's be honest is mix aren't that complicated either ... he's a great dj don't get me wrong and i've experience things with him that i never tought possible ... but he's NOTHING compared to Clarke !!

As for tenaglia .. i can't pronnounced .. i've yet to ear him live

Btw ...

If u all think i like Clarke ..

I hate the guy .. he mixes sooooo quickly that i can dance .. and it frustrates me ... but still .. he's got more skills than a dozen dj's .. RUNITED !!!

Then again biggy, what technical means to me and technical means to you may be very different.

Derrick Carter is crazy tho, I have never heard of a deejay getting drunk, dancing on the dancefloor while records are being played and sending the crowd into cloud nine, all in the same night.

Are you talking about Danny T Torontotrance?
When you put a 15 minutes long track, you can go on the dancefloor to dance or go to the toilet, there is no difference. There is nothing about dj skills on the decks or with the mixer with this.

A guy like Dave Clarke is using every single effect out of the DJM-600 and it sounds good, I mean very good, even crazy.

Ben Sims is fast and aggressive, changing records so fast and always playing with 3 tracks at the same time. It's tribal crazy techno.

Mark Farina is so tight, he's doing super long mixes, just perfect.

Derrick Carter, he's fast. Changing trak hip-hop style with a lot of cuts (good cuts) adding the best acapellas etc...
