"YAAAAAY....lets take MORE land that isnt ours!"- Israel

This is making me sick, along with the proposed fence that will cut even deeper into the west bank. Greedy Filthy Zionists!!!!

quote:

Israel to expand settlement

The Palestinians have launched an appeal over the fence
Israel has launched a tender for the construction of 550 new homes in Jewish settlements in the West Bank.
Almost all the houses will be built in the ultra-Orthodox settlement of Beitar Elit, near Jerusalem.

The announcement comes a day after the government agreed plans to build protective fences around several West Bank settlements.

About 220,000 Israelis live in the West Bank, in settlements widely regarded as illegal under international law.

The Israeli housing ministry says this decision is part of its policy to create more housing across the whole of Israel, not just the occupied territories.

It was, according to a spokesman, intended "to develop the communities in accordance with their needs and natural growth".

Despite international laws banning settlement in occupied areas, Jewish settlement building has expanded continually since Israel's occupation of the West Bank and Gaza in 1967, increasing rapidly in the late 1970s when the current Prime Minister, Ariel Sharon, was housing minister.

The pressure group Peace Now said the latest decision showed the housing ministry was acting as "a master planner for the settlers".

Housing Minister Effi Eitam is a member of the far-right National Religious Party, which has close links with the settlers.

Fence appeal

The Palestinian Authority has appealed to the nations that backed the now-stalled roadmap peace plan to stop any extension of the fence through the West Bank, because it will cut off Palestinian villages and towns from other Palestinian areas.

The main backer of that peace plan, the United States, had expressed concern, so for now Israel is not going to join up the new section with the old.

But the BBC's Jannat Jalil - reporting from Jerusalem - says many Palestinians are worried that Israel will delay the move until US President George W Bush is distracted by his re-election campaign.

To be honest even if the fence were to steal land from the Palestinians I would be for it - it would show them that unless they stop terrorism and come to the negotiation table they are on the losing side! ... something I still don't think they comprehend.

- I think that whatever Israel does will lead to something negative, and whatever palestine does will leave to something negative. IM neutral on all this, but I totally dont agree with Israel taking their lands like that... I really see the excuse of security for land-grabbing. But, what can you do.. terrorist attacks and such.. but like I said, Im neutral on this, Im on neither side ( although I tend to understand the palestinians hatred ).

I can understand both sides positions, but with all of the constant finger pointing and relentless posting of things like "Look what they're doing now!" only fuels more animocity, giving each side another reason to continue the violence.

Exactly, which is the same reason why I'm slowly ceasing to give a sh$t anymore. If neither side wishes to see peace, and if neither side only knows and wants more violence, why should I hope for peace amongst them all? If anger fuels their emotions and actions, what hope is there really for that region?

Blow the f$ck out of yourselves for all I care. Until either side truly wants peace and is committed to the actions that are required to make peace, all you'll receive is more anger, destruction, and death. I'm personally sick of it all, and will stop giving a sh$t from here on out.

Seriously, what the f$ck does it take for 2 people with different religious beliefs to get along?

yawn.

The idea is on of defense, as a reaction to neverending terrorism.
So okay, Israel first bombarded Palestinian cities, then invaded them, then bloacked the border between Israel and the territories, then came the targeted killings. Allthose methods were condemned without offering any realistic alternative. So now they try to solve it with a fence that won't harm anybody...but here we go again.

I think the fence would be a good idea ... if it were built on Israel proper. I don't like the idea of a fence snaking through the west bank to protect settlers who really shouldn't be there to begin with.

I am against this fence, but in looking at it from the perspective of an Israeli, if the Palestinian government will not sit down and hammer out serious issues over the creation of a Palestinian state and the security of Israelis, then what else can be done to prevent the loss of Israeli lives(sure ending the occupation) but that still doesn't address security for Israelis going about their daily lives on buses, in cafes, etc. Its easy to be critical of the fence but remember there are two sides to every story and this is oh so true in this neverending conflict. I agree with the above point about the settlers, problem is these people are religous zealots, who won't go anywhere no matter how many suicide bombings.
