2003, The Year Of......

O.K we always hear the neverending complaining of how trance is going commercial/downhill and how 98' was such a great year. Other than the fact that this was remake year (most of which made me cringe, while others were worthy) I'd say it was pretty good.
Now I'm not gonna go on and list all the productions this year that were so amazing but I'd say it was a good year, namely for Gabriel and Dresden and Steve Murano as well. Some new faces popped up as well and delivered some good tunez as well.
I know every year has it's good tunes but this year isn't over and I have a feeling that theres gonna be some more stormers.....
I'm hoping that 2004 will be when Lange comes back with some of his wicked style.

Year isn't quite over yet but let's keep this thread going and see peoples opinions for how the years been so far and maybe we'll keep it going till christmas . Who had a good year? Who do you want to hear more of? Who's starting to lag in their old age lol

The last 3 months have been really hard on my credit card since there have been some quality releases out lately. There have also been some poor and rather boring productions come out but everyone has their opinions. I'm just getting tired of the same old uplifting tunes

I found 2003 to be the best year yet... IMHO.

I don't care if people don't agree... there was so much awesome stuff this year.

could you say the year of prog/breaks?
luke chable, markus schulz, PQM, gabriel & dresden, attention deficit, trifactor, bonicci, junkie xl, james holden, james talk, sultan, tone depth, the greek, nathan fake, hybrid, porter, infusion, freeland, mark otten, et al, all went nuts this year. nuts, i tell ye.

and then there was trance.

<--agrees with the preceeding post. 1998-9 were the best for trance. 2003 seems to me the best year so far for EDM.

I'm not saying that it's the year of uplifting, just that there are too many repetitive uplifting tracks coming out.

I disagree with some earlier posts, I think the uplifting tracks have been great this year. Sure, a lot of the tracks are formulaic, but, with the exception of a select few tracks, most uplifting songs are structured in pretty much the same way.

One great thing about this year is that the experimental progressive trance sounds that emerged in late 2002 have really matured and resulted in amazing new productions. Gabriel and Dresden and James Talk never fail to produce tracks that are both innovative and brilliant.
