holland = the netherlands = weed, heinekens, ID&T radio(among other things)

deutchland = germany = home of the oktoberfest(munich) and the love parade (berlin) (among other things)

I think Denmark doesn't exist in the American geog courses. You would not believe how many times I hear remarks like this:

"hey, I heard you're from Holland."

"hey, I heard you're Dutch."

"Ask the Dutch girl."

Holland - old provincial region of what is today's Netherlands and the name became stuck with it in the English language.

Netherlands - the official name of the nation.

Deutschland - German name for Germany.

Dutch or Netherlandic as a language is a confligration of German and English, maybe some Frisian with very different pronounciations from English and also very gluttoral in speech. A dutch G sounds nothing like G in English.

Hope this helps you man, I know all this as I speak English, French, German, Italian, Spanish and Dutch. So this debunks the Euro myth that all Americans can't speak other languages.
