Monitors *the sound kind, no viewing*

I'm looking to invest in some quality studio monitors. So I can hear every little detail when making my tracks.. right now i have a pretty nice subwoofer and speakers..but i have a feeling i need better.. any suggestions? danke..

Yeah, the 824's are good, but a little pricey if you're just running a bedroom studio. You need to remember that there's more to sound than just the speakers. Placement and room specs have a lot to do with it as well, so you can spend heaps on good speakers, but still not get a representative sound.

There are some other speakers around that are a bit cheaper and still do okay for their price. I guess it depends on how much you are willing to spend and whether you want active or passive monitors.

I've said this pretty much every single time anyone asks about what monitors to buy in this forum, but here goes again...

Shortlist some models in the price range you're thinking of spending, then go to a shop and do comparitive listening tests between the models you've chosen. Any good store will set a pair of monitors up for you to try - just take along a CD of music you know really well and listen at both high and low volumes. Then buy the pair you like the sound of the best. You'll be listening to the for many hours, so you gotta like the sound
