set splitting procedues (i know, i know...)

yeah, i know im gonna get some crap for this considering there has been numerous forums about this. But my question is a little different. I know everyone asks about cues, but all i want to do is, for example, split a 60 minute set into 5 minute tracks with NO ANNOYING GAPS. I have searched for mp3 splitters far and wide, but it seems i havent found one that does what i want it to do. What i mean is that I split the file into 300 second intervals for example, giving me 12 5 minute tracks. then i open up Nero Express and try to burn the tracks. (i burned with no gaps and normalized the cd). STILL, there's stupid gaps that are not quite 1 second, more like 1 millisecond. theyre audible, and frustrating. I might have to turn to cue files, but what's the point if I'm just burning 5 minute tracks? any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

no matter how hard you try, if you split mp3s, you'll always have gaps between the tracks. it's a "built-in" "feature" of the mp3 format itself.
you'll have to go with creating your own cue file, i'm afraid...

This guys knows what he is talking about. For the millionith time if you guys want to cut up your sets with MusiCutter or some bulshit like that your going to get hiccups and gaps no matter what! Listen to the set to determine the times you want to cut and create a cuesheet for that set. It's actually easy as hell to do. Here is a quick templete. Just add on from there in notepad by repeating the process.

PERFORMER "Trance Dance - Mixed by DJ Whoever"
TITLE "Trance Dance - Mixed by DJ Whoever"
FILE "Trance Dance - Mixed by DJ Whoever.mp3" MP3
TRACK 01 AUDIO
TITLE "01 - DJ Title"
INDEX 01 00:00:00
TRACK 02 AUDIO
TITLE "02 - DJ Title"
INDEX 01 05:49:00
TRACK 03 AUDIO
TITLE "03 - DJ Title"
INDEX 01 11:07:00

and so on...................Don't want CD Text erase the Title line in Notepad.

I've always been able to split a set into 5 minute tracks without having any gaps. Just use Nero in the normal mode and not Nero Express. After you pick the file you want, just right click it and go to properties and to the Splits tab. Just split it into 5 minute tracks there. Remember to select that you want 0 seconds between each track (You can do this through properties as well) otherwise it won't work.

This is getting annoying. We are not talking about the 2 second gaps bewteen tracks we are talking about when you split files one by one then burn the set your going to get a slight skipping sound no matter what. Your hacking the file to shit!! If you like to do this rather then having a store bought CD replica then curcumsize your files and use disc at once. Happy Hacking. lol

Actually, I think you're wrong... I've split tracks lots of times and have NEVER gotten any skips whatsoever... nothing but perfect transition from one track to another, couldn't be better if you bought the original CD... I used the split feature in Nero like NeoBizzaro said.

maybe this split feature in nero doesn't actually splits the mp3, only marks where the next track begins. like cue files. that's the only possibility i can think of.
