Someone said that when reviewing the vestax 170a mixer, which i was planning to get with my technics in a few months time.
Can someone explain what this is please and is it enough to not want me buying a 170a.

My guess would be the split cue slider. The nob that lets you change what is coming into your headphones...either the Cue track or the Program track. Most mixers have that so you can either listen to the cue, listen to the program, listen to them both together, or listen to one on one side of the headphones and the other song on the other side of the headphones.

Cue meaning the record you are about to bring in and Program meaning the record already playing. (dont know if you knew that)

But Im not 100% positive thats what they are reffering to.

Yep, it is... can't mean anything else.
The monitor section of a mixer can have one simple knob (like a Numark BlueDog), or several knobs (like the Pioneer DJM-600).

Having a split-cue mixer is preferred by most DJ's, as you can decide what you are hearing in your headset while mixing.

As you might know, every turntable or seperate CD player is assigned to a specified channel on the mixer. With a split-cue mixer you get a good way of listening to what's being played and what's not (just by wearing the headset, instead of using a monitor (speaker) in the DJ booth).
It allows you simply to assign the channel being played to your left ear, for example, and the channel being cued to your right ear.

Eh... I suppose it should be called the Headphones section of a mixer, since the monitor section usually has one knob and is used to control the volume of the DJ booth speaker (or monitor!)
