Im doing a project for an AP english class and we are supposed to write a response to Sullivan Ballou's letter :
"July 14,1861
Camp Clark, Washington DC

Dear Sarah:

The indications are very strong that we shall move in a few days - perhaps tomorrow. And lest I should not be able to write you again I feel impelled to write a few lines that may fall under your eye when I am no more.

I have no misgivings about, or lack of confidence in the cause in which I am engaged, and my courage does not halt or falter. I know how American Civilization now leans upon the triumph of the government and how great a debt we owe to those who went before us through the blood and suffering of the Revolution. And I am willing - perfectly willing - to lay down all my joys in this life, to help maintain this government, and to pay that debt.

and theres a song called "Ashokan Farewell" that goes with it. Im supposed to find a song to play when I read my response back to the class. Im wondering if you guys have any suggestions for an electronica song that has similar feelings and tone as Ashokan Farewell. Any input would be appreciated!

Thanks for the responses so far. Mezzir, really nice song but I dont really think it fits the mood. I had an mp3 of the letter and song but I uploaded it on geocities and now its gone. I guess I can make a new geocities account and upload it again. Moncster, those are really nice lyrics. Fits the letter very well, but the jazzy nature doesnt really sound right. Im not trying to be rude or anything. Well any more suggestions would be welcomed. thnx

i guess the part i'm unsure of is the mood you want for the song
like is the overall mood uplifting, since the whole 'i'm with you always in spirit' deal, or sad and mournful, since the guys gonna die
so....here's what i could find that might work
gouryella - walhalla (armin van buuren's rising star mix) - it has some ethereal sense to it, esp. in the beginning, yet still the uplifting main melody.
