Finally!

Today, I got to spin vinyl for the first time ever. My friend's brother has just bought some new decks & mixer (Gemini stuff - the TT's are PT-200, d/drive, not sure about the mixer).

Anyway, he's selling his old ones. They are not very good at all, SoundLabs belt driven things, but I'm probably going to buy them anyway - they're £100, (about US$150) including the mixer. Don't tell me to save up for Technics - I'm starting uni next year, and I just simply cannot afford to buy them. Perhaps I'll upgrade once I've finished uni and I'm working!

Certainly does

Have to wait for the tables I'm buying though - the guy I'm buying them off is using the cartridges from them in his new decks. Also, the crossfader in the mixer is broken - But, he has ordered new cartridges and a new crossfader, so when I get them I'll be getting brand new cartridges and a brand new crossfader! All for the bargain price of £100!
Today, I was in a second-hand store and I saw the same decks, with a really shit mixer, for £179. Considering the decks were in worse condition than the ones I'm getting, and with old needles, I think i'm getting a pretty good deal!

Dude, the only thing that belt driven tables are good for are to listen to a record. Trying to beat match on them is close to impossible. Even when you do get them close, you will find it's damn hard to keep them going that way.

My advice....tech's or nothing.

You would simply be wasting your money if you think that belt driven tables are going to help you develop into a dj
