help please

I've totally mastered DSS DJ on my PC.
I think it's time for me to move on to the real thing.

Am I better off buying one of those turntable and mixer packages?
usually they come with speakers and headphones... i already have both...

A lot of packages seem like they're for rap and the packages labeled for trance or techno are like 1000 bucks...

I'm trying to get 2 tables and a mixer that are good for spinning
trance and house for under 500 bucks.
Is that possible?
What do you guys recommend I buy?

also i'd like a mixer that counts bpm...do they have that?

THANKS!

G

Alright, this might be a long post... but read it

If you have been spinning for a long time on your PC, like… 6+ months, I’d consider that a long time for a PC DJ (who has yet to touch tables)… then it is probably pretty safe to say that you like DJing and will continue to do it (only with tables this time).

I would not get a package… and don’t buy cheap stuff. Get good quality equipment. I would recomened a pair of technics 1200… The mk2s should be fine for a first table. You can pick these up on ebay for 250-300$ with carts+needles… which is a fair price..

For a mixer, well, I’d say get something good, but not top of the line. Get like a 100$ mixer… something with 3 inputs… 2 for your tables and 1 for your computer (since you’ve spun on the computer I’m going to assume you have a large collection of music on there that you are going to want to incorporate with your tables).

Also, forget wanting a BPM counter on your mixer. These look like the greatest thing on the computer, they make computer DJing so easy… but its just going to fuck up your mixes. You probably already rely too much on the counters (which is why you want one), but you are going to hit your peak as a DJ if you continue to use them… and your peak wont be a high one…

Shop around, try to find used equipment, because its cheap… but if you can, test it out before you buy it.
