Question Re-doing Old Songs: Good or Bad?

After seeing quite a few songs that are classics being remade into techno songs, i.e.
- Eleanor Rigby
- Enjoy The Silence
- Losing My Religion
- Ordinary World
Is this a good thing or a bad thing? Do you see it as a lack of originality or just a little experimentation?
Tell me what you think.

what i would like to see is more stuff like, the remix of stephenwolf's magic carpet ride, on the GO movie sound track, classic rock tunes. the start of the remix just goes off, but a pity for the rest of the mix (goes a bit lame) but the idea roxs and i would love to hear more trax like that around, and it would have to be remixed into a trance trax not techno (my preference) and in my opinion trance evolves from the continual remixing of old trax.
big cheer cheer NZW.

I like the idea, but I don't aprove of re-releasing tracks they can't possibly better e.g Spacew Brothers "Shine", none of the 2000 mixes bettered the 1997 original and Lustral "Everytime", no remix has beaten the Nalin & Kane Mix!

Cool

I think the idea of old tunes remixed into trance tunes is very good just look at adagio for strings or pavene pour une defante defunte, even though they are really old! Some of the "80's to trance" tunes have been bad, but there are still some 80's tunes i think would fit the trance period..

Peace

well, sometimes it's just because the artists get somethin' commercial out and it's gotta be somethin' already known.. some trax are cool when renewed.. but some just don't fit into trance!
