You sure that's not Phil Hartnoll from Orbital? He was supposed to do a set at Tribal Gathering if I'm not mistaken...

ooooooooh heaven is a place on earth

reminds me of the party i played at on fri nite. i started things off very chill with some deep proggy house/trance the handed off the tables to some dude he played hiphop and 80's music which all the ghetto and poppy kids there seemed to want to hear.
then when he finished i got back on the decks threw down some loungy DnB for about 20 min, then brought it down with some deep proggy house for a bit (got tons of people coming up to me telling me to play this hip hop track after that hip hop track, i kept having to tell people "I'm not a hip hop DJ" they didn't seem to understand that for some reason, i should get a shirt that says that, anyway i pick up the vibe and build things up and get the party banging with some funky banging house. people are going crazy. got kids jumping up all over the place, loving it.
but still get those damn stragglers coming in telling me to play some hip hop song or "instrumental" (god i hate it when people say that).
anyway, i keep the party banging for about 45 min, then one of the chicks having hte party comes over and kindly asks me how much longer i was gonna play for (she wanted to hear more hip hop/poppy sheit) so i say fuck it and play my last track.
the hip hop dj comes back on and plays a flock of seaguls - i ran
along with like 3 other 80's songs and then gets back into hiphop and all those idiots love it.

If I clicked on the correct link, I am listening to Phil from Orbital. He is not really a DJ, he is a producer, Besides, I have heard much, much worse. And if u have ever heard Orbital live, you would know that the Halcyon-BonJovi-Belinda Carlisle transition is one of their staples. It is awesome to see live, a bit of retro euphoria. Just my own two cents tho.

@ Chesco: if that's why you think he's a shit dj, then you really lack a sense of humour towards music. No offense.

I'd pay to hear Phil Hartnoll play at a club. His works are legendary. I don't really see why your bashing him. He's a producer, and a really good one, not really a DJ.

I took a quick listen. Is it the track selection that bothers you, or the mixing techniques. If you think thats bad you should have heard Robert Miles back in the day.

As a DJ, at least he's jukeboxing his own creations.

the fact every mix is either a train wreck or hes letting the records stop then starting a new one.

if hes such a good producers then why the fuck is he on the essential mix pretending to be a dj.

hes fuckin awful at dj'ing anyone who thinks otherwise are clearly deaf.
