Markus Schulz opens up the Broadcast! Markus takes a break from his hectic
studio schedule this week to bring us another signature set. He is crrently
busy working on several remix and original projects in preperation for his
big weekend playing with Paul Van Dyk at Space on saturday night and then
here at Global DJ Broadcast with Airwave and Yves Deruyter on sunday.
Looks like another massive weekend!
Airwave joins the Broadcast! Laurent a.k.a. Airwave lived in Brussels until
he was 20 years young, experimenting with computers and synthesizers at his
home. After sending his first demo to Lightning records - the home of the
Bonzai label - , he became one of the artists of the new age in electronic
music.
After the first small successes with PLG, North Pole, Montera and Magnetix
he had his first breakthrough with the first release of Fire & Ice. He
decided to move to Antwerp to concentrate on his productional work. The
first results were new releases for Fire & Ice, Planisphere and Meridian.
After that he evolved more and more to become a real professional artist by
producing both Airwave and Body-Shock. Nowadays he's back in Brussels, where
he's producing even more big tunes! All that together with the launch of
Bonzai UK made him an instant star in the progressive and trance scene.
Besides all that he was also commissioned to make remixes for Yves Deruyter,
Da Hool, Aurora, Solar Stone, Blue Alphabet,... Laurent has always
essentially been influenced by the roots of electronic music, since the
early beginning : from Kraftwerk to FSOL. Great producers as Jarre, Orbital,
Oliver Lieb, BT,... are still taking his breath away. He defines his musical
style as "pure electronic dance music" which is a result of many years of
discovering and getting inspired by his musical heroes, whom he calls "the
gods of technology"... Check out www.bonzaimusic.com for more info on
Airwave!
Yves Deruyter makes his debut on the Broadcast! He started his DJ career
about 17 years ago. Since then he is signed to Bonzai Records. His first
single Animals became a big club hit in Belgium. At this stage people
started wanting artists like Yves Deruyter for playing on big raves such as
May Day, Energy, Nature One, Trance Energy, Mysteryland, Gatecrasher and I
love Techno. With his second single he made a big jump into the German
market. Rave City and it's follow up Calling Earth were both big successes.
"The Rebel" was a top tune and the real international breakthrough for Yves.
This single was also the announcement for this first album "D-Album"
containing all the singles from past and future. He made 4 Cherrymoon Trax
singles of which the last single "In My Electric House" was again succesfull
in Germany. All this in combination with the first 3D black and white video
made by Frank Dewulf who became an important artist with his B-Sides
releases. Yves's vision of his future in music is and will always be the
same: making music for the people. For him it is important that the people
have fun while they're listening/dancing to his music. In the past he used
to work with Frederico Santini, but the last couple of years his counterpart
was Dirk "M.I.K.E." Dierickx (Push, The Blackmaster, M.I.KE., Moon Project).
The single Rhythmic Bazz" was released in June 2001. The follow-up single
was "Music-Nonstop", which also got a remix-package with remixes from e.g.
Ton TB (Three Drives). His most recent release was "Spiritual
Feeling/Y.D.O.T.". His new single will be a re-release of "Spiritual
Feeling", which will also include a "Dolphin remix". He made this remix
together with L-Vee (Airwave). So get ready for Yves! You can find more info
