so yea alot of us love these mixes so much that we wanna burn them on cd (if u guys are cool with it that is)..

however..IMO i think you guys should make cue files or traclists with time markers so that we can skip back and forth between tracks instead of holding that forward or reverse button for minutes together...


what do u guys think??

It only makes sense to do this if you, the DJ, are giving a CD to others.

If you want tracks separated on a mix uploaded to the web, the DJ would have to upload say, 10 different files, and you would have to download each separately, and then burn them to CD and even then, there would be a gap between each file and it wouldn't be a continuous mix.

Making track markers is really just splitting the whole mix into separate files of a predetermined length.

btw, Aaron - how'd ya like the cd?

I always cut tracks on my CDs that I give out. I haven't posted any of my mixes here on the site yet though...Don't have anywhere to host them

For once I am agreeing with skipper I think we need to have a celebration just for that!
I guess if you knew what program you are using to burn the CD you could create a cue file just for that one program and upload it. I use Nero and I usually do my track cutting right in there. I could upload that specific burning file for all those who use Nero as well for example, but that's pretty limited to those users who use Nero specifically.

thats why i said cue files...

cue files have the track markings etc. all in one file

so basically its 2 files that are uploaded..ie. the full length cd as one mp3 and a .cue file

nero is the most widely used burning software out there and it reads/makes cue files so it would work out fine...

edit: another option is just stating the start times of each track in the tracklist they post which makes it easier for someon who burns it on cd to split it accordingly

Too bad it doesn't work for me (Nero) that is. It's not compatible with my burner. I'll put up my demo in a bit (thing is, it's one continuous mix unless I can somehow seperate it in Soundforge?)

well all u guys really need to do if you can make cue sheets is just put down start times (as i mentioned above) and then we could cut it ourselves

reason why i say this is cos off late ive been downloading some sets/compilations and sometimes u just ahve the urge to listen to a track way in the middle or maybe even the end and then i sit for countless minutes fastforwarding...

ask infinity high...he throws fits when i do that while cruising

Chris, I use cakewalk to split up mp3 files.

Works wonders when you have a MISSTRESS BARBARA @ SONAR set that you need split up for listening pleasure.
