Over the past year I have increasingly seen images on the news portraying muslims as being violent people. I never thought they could be that violent until, I noticed that every nation in the world with two major religions one including islam has and is strife with civil unrest. Yugoslavia, Russia, Israel, Lebanon, India and numerous African countries. Whether jewish christian or hindu it seems everybody is fighting moslems. I was wondering if people think this is caused by muslim intolerance or a anti-muslim world?

we could also see it as a fight between poors and rich (richer) in those countries. Muslim people are chronically poorer because they're not allowed to borrow money, so its harder for them to start their own buisnesses. Also, they have more children per family, spreading the "wealth" between more people...

I can see wealth being a factor in the case of Israel and Lebanon. But in the other countries I listed including Indonesia everybody is poor. And in Indonesia muslims weren't the minority, they attacked a Christian minority and slaughtered them all.

Hmmmm I haven't really thought this out in detail, but I thought that I would just throw this out as something for others to comment on. Instead of a natural intolerance towards muslim in general, could the cause of most of the current strife be as a result of a deep seated muslim desire to establish an Islamic system of self-governance whereby church and state are merged together? This strong desire eventually leading to a strong seperatist mentality that lays the foundation for civil strife? In all of the regions of violence, it appears that the root causes of the violence are seperatists movements. In Russia, Israel, Northern Africa, India, etc., each contain elements that desire independance from the larger body in order to establish their own system of self-governance. Then when you look at most of the current Islamic countries, all appear to have a strong bond or integration between church and state albeit at different levels of intensity. The only exception to this appears to have been Iraq though that was only accomplished through the brutality of a dictatorship. Therefore, could it be this mentality of secession in order to establish an integrated church and state that is the cause of strife? Opinions?

I totally agree it shows that some moslems are not able to live with any other type of people in our world. They feel they need to live under muslim law (a theocracy) and they will use terrorism and violence to acheive it. Killing many innocent beleivers of any other faith that stands in their way.

IMO muslims just replaced blacks, well in the states anyway. Before it used to be blacks doing criminal stuff, now its muslims and terrorism. Thank the right wing echo machine corporate media for that.

Rich vs. Poor is such an oversimplified, actually WRONG explanation. Those 19 hijackers were all rich bastards studying in Europe, financed by their wealthy Saudi parents. That's only one example.

The problems lies in the psyche of today's Islamic Culture. It suffers from an inferiority complex and escapes into extreme fanatism and conservatism. After ruling the world in the 15th century (be it by military victories, their vast knowledge of science, literature etc.) it's gone downhill leading to the most hurting, humiliating defeat in 1948. They never forgave Israel, Israel's existence is a daily reminder of their trauma, their complex. It must disappear.

Whgo are we to constantly blamne ourselves and trying to support by learning about the Quran or donating money (which disappears in corruption). It's up to the Muslim World to finally change attitude and make a new beginning instead of making it worse and worse for everyone.
