a question about different music

when i listen to trance i look for the euphoric uplifting and energy stuff and no doubt thats what most people r looking 4 in trance. so this is my question: if somebody really likes heavy metal what is it about heavy metal that somebody is looking 4?, cuz i cant understand the point of it, it sounds like a mess 2 me. i also cant stand oasis or nirvana songs they just sound so shit and boring what is the actuall point im missing i just dont get it. why do so many people like these songs i just dont understand. serious answers only please!!

Its all to do with angst, and wallowing in self-pity. People who listen to it are usually boring, or serious. The simple fact is that not everyone likes 140 beats a minute.

i think metal is supposed to make you feel angry... dunno, most rock and especially metal mess with me badly, that's why i don't like those... it just feels flat and unsatisfactory to listen to those, so i don't.

it's like they have no flow, no structure and i can't handle that.

but i suppose it's all about chemical response - someone listens to rock - they get endorphins, i listen to rock - i get no endorphins. and vice versa.

Bullshit.
That's a same kind of generalisation as all who listen to trance are pill popping candy ravers.

I happen to like Nirvana & Oasis quite a lot - Nirvana is excellent when you're really pissed off and need to vent and Oasis is nice for more chilled out feelings.

Just because you don't like it doesn't mean you can generalise.

holy stereotyping in this thread...

i'm not into metal but my friends are... a lot of metal songs have really poetic lyrics. makes you think. they've usually got some wicked guitar work, which i totally respect. really long guitar solos, not just a cheap 1 or 2 bar hook.

my friend listens to a type of metal they call progressive. which means they have no chorus... its like 10 minute songs that are amazing. nothing is repeated all that much.

metal isn't just angry people screaming. there's actually a lot of skill involved in writing lyrics and music.

Everyone's got their own taste, my brother likes Iron Maiden and stuff so I'm gonna ask him what it is he likes so much about it tomorrow, but I'm guessing its just the energy, the lyrics, etc...

I totally agree.I have seen nirvana and oasis live and they were both awesome.Rock deals with issues.I think trance takes you away from issues and all the crap that is going on in your life. It's just cool to be taken to a higher state of mind.Trance is a nice remedy which takes you some place else and i enjoy the emotions you feel there.

Can I brush it?

Just Kidding, well sort of anyway.

I'm not into Heavy Metal, but I don't mind listening to a couple of rock songs like Alice In Chains, Linkin Park, Rob Zombie and so on. And Oasis isn't bad. It's like what Mr.Mystery said, it's more for chill out feelings. As for Nirvana... I don't think that counts as "heavy metal" but no comment.
