ok supposedly i have "parasites" on my computer and i'm getting a popup that says i need to scan my computer etc... i'm using SpyHunter and it's scanning it now and all these things are showing up but it only lets me remove them if i purchase the software. does anyone know of any FREE software i can use to do this?? any other advice would be greatly appreciated. thanks.

Download Ad-Aware (regular version) from there.

If you clicked on one of those IE popups that said "scan your computer now" then the popup was bullshit, it's just an attempt to sell their crappy software.

yes get rid off it. All it is a registry key for this specific software. Dont do it manually, let the Ant-Virus do it. Because you might delete other reg keys by mistake which are very critical to your computer.

Quarantine i think means....The virus/corrupted file was detected, unable to deleted but its been disabled so it wouldn't cause anymore harm.

it means that the file has been 'disabled', but is still physically present on your harddisk. You'd want to delete them if possible.

CometCursor is a program that alters your mouse cursor to one of many skins. It's very much possible that you visited a site that wanted to alter the skin of your mouse, because the developer of the site set it that way. Quite annoying... hehe

Another couple of pieces of software you should get that sometimes find stuff ad-aware doesn't:

* Spybot - Search & Destroy
* SpywareBlaster
