Fussy with Crash Cymbals

I dunno why but when I bring something in and use that CRASH CYMBAL to hit it in, you know the drill.

Anyway Im dead fussy with the decay, Ive heard alot of tracks where it hits and cuts out very quick but in my own mixes I hate it, so I always have it sound like its fadeing out (Decay)
Yeah

Anyone?

"thunder kicks" are cheesy imo

btw..to create one just take a kick with a big low end and put lots of reverb on it

If you're running it in a sampler, make sure release is set to maximum so that you hear it all. It helps to have a good sample to start with. There are some great ones in the DoruMalaia superdrums 8000 package with nice long tails.

Otherwise, open it up by itself in a wave editor and play around with it, give it a bit of verb and try and get more of a tail on it.

Easiest way though is to find one you like that already has a tail.

copy and pasting the tail over and over in cool edit, good idea.

I wish there was a single sampler plug for logic, fruity automaticly opens up a sampler so that you can edit as a piano roll but with logic its audio and ugghh

Get Reason 2.5 and use the RV9000's "Kick Boom" preset if you want that big, reverberating kick. But yeah, it's realllllly cheesy. You can do the same thing in Fruityloops if you add a reverb, set dry/wet all the way to wet, damping to the absolute least, and use the biggest room you can.
