Hello Toronto TA's!!!!!

My girlfriend and I will be making our first trip to Toronto this new years eve, and I was hoping you all could help me out with a few questions I have about clubs and things to do in Toronto and the hotel we are staying in.

1) Does anyone know anything about the Strathcona hotel downtown Toronto? Is this pretty centraly located and is pretty nice or a dump? Either way, I already made the reservations and the price was pretty cheap which is always good because it saves money for other things.

2) We will be in Toronto for New Years Eve and the following weekend. We would like to go to 2 or 3 different clubs. We definetaly want to go to The Guvernment, but what other clubs are close and are worth going to. Also, where do you suggest we go for New Years Eve? The only events I have found so far is the all access 8 rooms at Guvernment and the DESTINY & Temporal Rythm - RAVEOLUTIONS event. Has anyone heard about anything else going on for NYE or the following weekend?

3) We are driving to Toronto and I was wondering if anyone knows what it is like crossing the border. What I mean is are we going to get searched going into Canada?

4) While not partying and recovering from partying, we would like to do and see some other things in Toronto. We were thinking about seeing a play, but any other suggestions would be welcomed.

If anyone has any suggestions for things to do or see, that would be great. We are really looking forward to visiting Toronto.

1) I think that hotel is pretty much a dump from what I've heard... How much are you going to pay a night? You might be better off booking through Hotwire.com - It is weird in the sense that you don't know what hotel you're going to get until after but you can pick the general area & # of stars and I can vouch for its authenticity... Sometimes you can get rooms for 1/3rd the actual price.

2) Optimally - I'd check out Raveolutions and then stay and hit System on the Friday and Guvernment on the Saturday (assuming u stick around this long - possible if you can score a room for cheap)

3) Searches shouldn't be anything special.. I wouldn't worry - but remember our speed limits are in KM not in miles

4) Check www.eye.net / www.toronto.com for event/entertainment listings

Halo20, didn't you stay at the Stratacona one time in the previous years. It doesn't look like a dump from outside, but I dunno.

Nothing beats the shitty hotels in New York. The one we stayed at was a dump!

4)go up the cn tower... its nice and high! If you aren't into shopping than perhaps your gf is so I would i suggest to visit the following places...
a)eaton center-Toronto's largest mall
b)yorkville- a cozy little city block with a colletion of fancy stores and cafes
c)queen street(around yonge street)-large array of fashion stores

these are all downtown

Yeah, I love the Stratacona! It's not a dump at all.

Edit: It's pretty much as central as you can get. (directly across from the Royal York)

Has guv/kh announced the nye lineup yet? I don't think so. It'll probably be Oliver ripping shit up.

NYE this year in Toronto is looking pretty bleak, but good luck man. I'm sure you'll have a good time, Toronto is a great city.

I think you are right....its suppose to be Oliver most of the night...all the better..


Where abouts in Indianapolis do you live? I go to school in Ft Wayne but have some friends that live and go to school at Indianapolis U.
