I would like to see a picture of a technics deck with MK3 on it, or a link to an official technics site to figure this out, because i have wondered about it before.

well, there are mk2, mk4 (yes, there is a japanese technics mk4, very cool, with 78RPM, and plugs for your RCA cables ) and mk5, they figure, why not mk3? heh.
